Whether you're eloping or inviting guests, destination weddings are
fun and intimate. What better way to start your marriage than on a beautiful
resort that gives you a wedding and vacation all in one? Many resorts
will provide all the services you will need, offering you a basic package
that you can customize and add on to, and the travel professionals at
ABC Travel are here to assist you with planning your destination dream.
Location, Location
Often you don't have to travel far for exotic locations. First, you
will need to consider your budget, how much time you have, and how far
your guests are willing to travel. Not sure about where to go? We will
discuss the many options with you and advise you of the requirements
you will need to meet for your wedding to be held at any particular
destination. We are here to assist you with making the right decision
for your special event.
When to Begin Planning
The sooner the better! Weekend dates always fill up fast as destination
weddings become more popular than ever! Planning early will give you
more choices and plenty of time to give advance notice to your guests.
You'll have peace of mind knowing you can get married at your desired
location. Ten to twelve months in advance is ideal. Sometimes you can
plan as little as one month ahead at some resorts, but you may find
that many resorts are just too busy to handle your event on short notice.
The First Steps
Stop by or give us a call at ABC Travel to set up a convenient time
to meet with us and discuss your
wedding event. We will provide you with destination information, ideas,
and our professional guidance in making your destination wedding a memorable
event!
Wedding Coordinator
Once your destination wedding plans are underway, we will continue to
assist you with the planning, or if you prefer, we will put you in touch
with your resort wedding coordinator for the actual event planning and
we will continue to handle all travel arrangements. Reputable resorts
will usually offer those that know the local vendors and services, and
will be prepared to handle the necessary paperwork or advise you what
steps you need to take, such as residency requirements if you're traveling
overseas, identification and medical tests. Destination wedding planning
is much easier to do with the assistance of knowledgeable planners and
takes a lot of added stress off your hands.
Officiates
Some resorts offer a selection or list of wedding officiates. Whether
you have them provide one or hire outside, be sure to discuss religion
and the ceremonies available. Non-denominational clergy and ministers
will give you plenty of freedom to write your own vows and plan the
order of your ceremony. Communication is crucial.
Contract
ABC Travel professionals will assist you in making a contract with
the destination resort. You can often get discounts for multiple rooms,
transportation, excursions and insurance options for you and your guests.
This should all be included in the contract, along with the costs. We
will also explain to you any obligations, deadlines, etc. under the
contract by either you or the resort.
Entertaining
Ask us about any activities that are available at or near your resort.
We will provide that information to you in advance so you can plan for
sailing, museums, golfing, tours, etc. Let your guests know as well
so they can pack necessary clothing and gear.
